The Collier-Lee Honor Flight team has announced that Mission 29, originally scheduled for October 18, 2025, will be postponed due to the ongoing federal government shutdown and its impact on essential services in Washington, D.C.
While this delay is disappointing for our veterans, guardians, and volunteers who have eagerly awaited this trip, the mission to honor our heroes is far from over. Plans are already underway to reschedule Mission 29 for Spring 2026, ensuring that every veteran receives the experience they’ve earned and deserve.
✈️ What Is Mission 29?
Each Honor Flight mission is a day of remembrance and gratitude. Veterans from World War II, Korea, and Vietnam are flown to Washington, D.C. — free of charge — to visit the memorials built in their honor.
For many, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience filled with emotion, connection, and healing. They travel with trained guardians, medical support, and volunteers who ensure the journey is safe, comfortable, and unforgettable.
Mission 29, sponsored by The Lion and the Lamb Foundation, represents yet another opportunity for our community to show appreciation for the men and women who’ve served our nation with courage and sacrifice.
💬 Why the Postponement
Due to the federal shutdown, several essential agencies — including the National Park Service and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) — face operational uncertainties. With flight logistics, memorial access, and public safety potentially affected, organizers made the responsible decision to postpone.
“We never compromise on safety or the quality of our veterans’ experience,” said Honor Flight organizers. “Every veteran deserves a day that is seamless, meaningful, and filled with gratitude. That’s what we’re committed to delivering — even if it means waiting a little longer.”
❤️ The Mission Carries On
Collier-Lee Honor Flight will continue preparing for the rescheduled mission in Spring 2026, ensuring that every detail is ready when the time comes. In the meantime, the organization is encouraging the community to stay involved:
- Volunteer: Guardians, medical staff, and event coordinators are always needed.
- Donate: 100% of donations go toward veteran flights, meals, and support services.
- Spread the Word: Encourage local veterans to apply for upcoming flights or join as supporters.
🕊️ A Message to Our Veterans
To every veteran awaiting Mission 29: your day will come.
Your service and sacrifice will be honored in full — surrounded by gratitude, respect, and the heartfelt thanks of your community.
Though the flight is delayed, the mission of Collier-Lee Honor Flight remains steadfast:
To honor America’s veterans by transporting them to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifice.
